Chevrolet showed off its new go-faster rollerskate, the Chevy Aveo RS concept, at the 2010 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS). It's not that far-flung a show car, being based on the regular or garden Aveo – but pumped up with a sporty 1.4-litre turbocharged engine. As transplants go, this is the future of performance cars even in the US, say GM types.
New life has been breathed into Saab with the pending sale to Dutch carmaker Spyker Cars and its CEO, Victor Muller. Now comes the hard part--reviving Saab. Whether you're a longtime fanatic or just a casual friend, you might have some ideas about what Saab should be going forward.
They don't sell Renaults in the United States anymore, but it's worth noting that the French automaker is reviving the Gordini name for high-performance versions of the Twingo and the Clio. The name pays homage to Amedee Gordini, a mechanical whiz known as "the sorcerer" for taking production-car engines and making them competitive on the great racetracks of Europe. The Gordini versions of the Twingo and the Clio will wear the trademark light blue paint with a pair of white stripes running from nose to tail and centered over the driver.
